CYBERSECURITY · SOUTH TEXAS

Cybersecurity for small businesses that can’t afford a breach.

Small businesses are targeted because attackers assume you’re unprotected. We make sure you’re not the easy target — with security that’s built into how your IT runs, not bolted on after the fact.

$16.6Breported lost to cybercrime in 2024 — a record year in the FBI’s IC3 report, up 33% from 2023.
$2.77Bof that was business email compromise alone in 2024 (FBI IC3) — the convincing fake invoice or “updated bank details” email.
88%of breaches at small organizations involved ransomware, per Verizon’s 2025 DBIR — small businesses are hit disproportionately, not occasionally.
22%of breaches started with credential abuse — stolen or reused passwords are still the most common way in (Verizon DBIR 2025).
HOW SMALL BUSINESSES ACTUALLY GET HIT

The doors attackers really use

  1. The password that’s everywhere

One reused password — breached at some unrelated site years ago — opens the mailbox, and the mailbox resets everything else. Credential abuse is the top way in because it doesn’t require breaking anything.

  2. The update that never ran

Exploited vulnerabilities were the initial access in a fifth of breaches in the 2025 DBIR, up sharply year over year — most of them in software that had a patch available and never got it.

  3. The email that looks like your vendor

Business email compromise cost victims $2.77 billion in 2024. The message is boring on purpose: an invoice, a remittance change, a “new bank account.” It works because nothing technical stops it — only configuration and habit do.

  4. Antivirus, and nothing behind it

Antivirus is one layer. When something gets past it — a phish, a stolen login, a malicious attachment — there’s no monitoring to catch it early and nobody whose job is to respond.

  5. The account of someone who left

Former employees, old vendors, the shared login nobody changed: access that outlives the relationship is access an attacker can buy, guess, or simply be handed.

WHAT WE COVER

Protection, monitoring, response — and the basics, done right

Protection

Security software and configuration across your computers and network — set up correctly, not just installed.

Monitoring

We watch for suspicious activity so threats get caught early.

Response

If something gets through, you have someone to call who already knows your systems.

The basics, done right

Updates, access controls, and backup — because most incidents exploit the simple stuff.

Cybersecurity is included in our managed IT plans. If you already have IT support and just need the security side handled, we offer cybersecurity as a standalone service. Either way, we start with the $495 Network & Risk Assessment: a look at your current defenses — what’s protecting you, what’s misconfigured, and what’s missing — delivered as a written report. Then we close the gaps that matter most first.

THE 10-POINT SECURITY CHECKLIST

Grade your own defenses in about ten minutes.

Our 10-Point Small Business IT Security Checklist walks you through the ten things that matter most — in plain English, no jargon. Work through it at your own pace and see where your business stands before an attacker does the same review.

  • The ten controls that stop the most common attacks
  • Written for owners, not technicians — plain English throughout
  • The same starting pass we run in the $495 assessment

Frequently asked questions

Is cybersecurity included with managed IT services?

Yes — it's built into every managed IT plan. It's also available as a standalone service.

We're a small business. Are we really a target?

Small businesses are targeted precisely because attackers expect weaker defenses. Basic, well-maintained security stops the vast majority of it.

What does cybersecurity actually include?

Protection software and configuration, monitoring for suspicious activity, incident response, and the fundamentals: updates, access controls, and backup.

We already have antivirus. Isn't that enough?

Antivirus is one layer. Real protection means configured defenses, monitoring, maintained updates, and a response plan — that's what we provide.

Do you help after an incident?

Yes. If something gets through, call us — we'll help you contain it, recover, and close the gap that let it in.

How much does it cost?

Bundled into managed IT plans ($150–$300 per seat per month). Standalone pricing depends on your environment — the $495 Network & Risk Assessment gives us what we need to quote it.
